DC Porcupine has the exclusive story behind Jim Asendio’s resignation as news director at WAMU today, straight from Asendio.
In an email, Asendio writes that he resigned over a conflict over WAMU journalists meeting with donors at donor-only events. Here’s a portion of Asendio’s email:
I resigned because I objected to working journalists meeting with donors at station-sponsored, donor-only events. I believe in maintaining a firewall between working journalists and the people who fund their work. My management disagreed.
